Many hospice patients spend their final weeks and months at home, in comfort and dignity, receiving care from an expert team that also supports and counsels their loved ones. They do not have to face the all too 
common experiences of being in pain, being alone, or feeling like they are a burden to their loved ones.
For some patients, however, there are large barriers to accessing hospice. Perhaps the patient lacks a family caregiver, or a suitable home for hospice care. Sometimes a patient has intense care needs that can not be managed in their own home. For example:
- A patient has a lengthy illness and the spouse becomes overwhelmed by care-giving responsibilities
- A patient lives with an adult child whose family or job responsibilities make it hard to be a full-time caregiver.
- A patient lives alone with no caregiver, and reaches a point where it is no longer safe to be at home.
By building the Grace House - a long-term 8-bed hospice residence, the Permian Basin has a solution to these growing concerns. Grace House will open the doors of hospice to a wider range of people, offering them a new choice of where and how they spend their final months. Grace House will offer the full benefits of a home, with the assurance that help is always nearby. Residents will continue to have full access to the Home Hospice care team, including medical care specialists, social workers and chaplains, bereavement counselors and volunteers.

Grace House is a project of the Hospice House Foundation, a registered non-profit foundation created in 2000, when the needs for a free-standing hospice in-patient facility were identified in the Permian Basin. Foundation funds will now be able to help subsidize patients living at Grace House who require, but cannot afford to pay for residential care, and will also help to maintain the residence at the standard of comfort our residents deserve.
Currently there are a variety of ways to support the residence, including naming opportunities. We believe the Basin is more than ready for a long-term hospice residence, and we ask you to join us in making this extraordinary new project a reality.
