WHAT IS HOSPICE?

home hospice

Hospice is a compassionate, team approach to end-of-life care that addresses the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of people with a limited life expectancy. Hospice allows the patient to live and die in comfort and dignity, free from pain. Hospice also provides support for the patient's family, including bereavement care after the death. Hospice does not hasten or postpone death, but allows it to occur naturally. Most times, the patient will be able to remain at home, or in a home-like setting, in greater control of their life, surrounded by the people and things that give life meaning.
